This is a very unique Santa Fe Special , I have never seen another exactly like it.

If you look at the photos you will notice.

All of the bridges are gold flashed, and the gold appears to go most of the way through the bridge because it carries through to the case screw openings.
The bridge plates tops are a combination fish-scale and two-tone gold checkerboard.

The dial is a near perfect double sunk Montgomery, original porcelain enamel, with only a faint hairline between 10 and 11. Needs magnification to see.

New old stock beveled glass crystal was just installed into a very nice gold filled case that has very good covers and no initials.

The movement was just serviced and a new alloy mainspring installed.

21 jewels lever set and stem wound.

Serial number 2885992 dates the watch to 1917.

None of my reference book indicate that Illinois ever made a Santa Fe Special with these style of bridges. Even the inside of the mainspring barrel is gold flashed. This may very well be a one of a kind model.

He either loved it or hated it because this series 11 is so near mint that he either didn't carry it or was extremely careful with it when he did. No offence to the ladies but this is definitely a man's watch.

I don't use the word mint often when describing vintage watches, and if mint is 10 then this watch is at least 9.75.

The case is a white base metal that has been electroplated with pure coin gold. If you are familiar with white base metals than you know that generally speaking they cannot be gold plated.

After years of trial and errors we have developed a process to gold plate nearly all white metal cases. This requires a multiple step process with the last step being electroplating in an 18K plating solution using a pure (coin grade) gold anode.
