This
is a size 16 21 jewel, adjusted to 5 positions Ball RR official
standard pocket watch.
The dial is an exceptional, original porcelain
Ball Official RR Standard, no chips and no hairlines. This
dial looks as good as the day it left the factory!
The crystal is new old stock glass.
The watch has just been serviced and is
keeping very good time.
I believe this is a Waltham movement
(99.99%), I
am basing this on where the hair spring stud attaches to the
balance bridge and the shape of the regulator. This model Ball used both Waltham and
Hamilton with only a slight difference in the bridge stud
indicating the difference, it is easy to mix them up.
The serial number is B255053: this dates
the watch to 1920, if by chance it were a Hamilton it would
be from 1905,
wouldn't you know Ball used the same serial number on both
movements in fact they also used it on the Howard movement.
The case is an original Ball Official RR
Standard Keystone 10 K with the stirrup bow, very clean and in excellent condition,
with one small ding - see photo.

IMPRESSIVE
WALTHAM 16-A 21 JEWELS 16 SIZE 5 POSITIONS 3/4 NICKEL
PLATE MOVEMENT IN A DEFIANCE BASE METAL SCREW-BACK-AND-BEZEL
CASE. Even with
the great train engraving on the back this case tends
to be a little boring. So to spruce it up we plated it first
with coin silver, then 18 K gold, then we polished off most
of the gold just leaving traces of it in the recesses. We
think this makes for a very interesting case. Check the
photos closely to see how this came out.
YES,
RUNS LIKE A TANK IN ALL SIX POSITIONS WITH A FINE BALANCE
MOVEMENT AND A GOOD STRONG BEAT! Hairspring pulses with
vigor!
Thank you for considering our beautiful Waltham 16-A,
21 jewels, 16 size, stem-wind, lever set, adjusted 5
positions, open face, 3/4 nickel plate movement. Large
pressed jewels and sparkling plates and wheels round out the
stylish look of this high-quality 16-A. There is practically
no damage showing on this pristine movement, but the photos
will reveal whatever there is. Regulator shows room either
way for adjustment. Set lever works fine and an easy
in-and-out. Overall a fine-running movement holding
excellent time that would add genuine value to the serious
Waltham collection! Please see photos.
This
movement and case are complimented by a near-mint (if not
mint) Waltham single-sunk enamel open face dial, featuring
black Arabic numerals, black minute ticks and red
five-minute-markers. So far as I can tell the dial is
damage-free and 100% clean, but you be the final arbiter.
This handsome and near-mint dial is further complimented by
heavy black spade hour and minute hands that are probably
replacements, are in excellent condition and set and turn
well. Second hand is also black, could be original and turns
with ease. Crystal is a high-domed mineral glass model with
no apparent wear.

Jewel Waltham Riverside, nicely damasked and running strong
and keeping good time.
This watch has a very
special case. We started with the stock white base metal
case that was in good condition and after a thorough cleaning
and polishing electroplated it first
with nickel, then coin sliver and finally overlaid the
entire case with platinum. The finished case is a real
beauty.
The nickel gives the case a very even
bright white finish, this is a good base but would make the
watch case look to new for a 75 year old watch.
The coin silver plate softens the case
finish and because the overlay is designed to be a little
uneven this will give the finish a little variation to replicate
a natural patina.
The platinum electroplate (this is very
expensive) adds a deep luster to the finish and prevents the
silver from ever tarnishing so you will not need to polish
the silver away over the coming years.
The movement was just
completely serviced.
The dial is very nice but
does have a small edge repair at 1:30 and small hairlines
between 1 & 2, through 4 and running from 7 to 8.
All are hard to see without magnification.

- This is a very uncommon Elgin, G M Wheeler. It is an 18
size, Hunter model, grade 143 with 17 jewels and a lever
setting mechanism (pull out on a small lever to set the
time). My research found that Elgin only made 7000 of this
model. The movement was just serviced and is bright and
shiny, running strong and keeping good time. The movement is
marked G M Wheeler, Elgin Ill. USA, Safety Pinion, 17
Jewels, and Adjusted. The serial number on the movement is
6102131 dating it to about 1895.
Case This case is a
real eye catcher. It was made by the Dueber Watch Case
Company. It is marked Dueber Champion 14K. I believe this is
14 Karat solid gold. The case shows
almost no wear as the designs are still very crisp. There
are no dents or significant scratches. This watch must
have spent the vast majority of its 112 year life in that
top dresser drawer. The front cover, back cover, and inner
dust cover are hinged and the hinges are strong opening
to the proper 90 degrees. The front cover latch and lift
spring function properly. There are no initials or
dedications. The case is 55mm in diameter, not counting the
stem and bow
Dial - Nice single sunk
porcelain type. It looks perfect I cant even find a
hairline.
Hands Spade style
in excellent condition.
Crystal Glass -
excellent condition.
